The goal of Gygès is to move a piece onto your opponent’s back row. The twist is that no player owns any pieces. On your turn, you may move only a piece from the row closest to you. Each piece has 1, 2, or 3 rings, which also indicates how many spaces it must move. If a moving piece lands on another piece, it may immediately move again — this time by the number of spaces indicated by the new piece’s rings. Alternatively, you can choose to displace that piece to another empty space on the board before continuing your move. Under tournament rules, you can’t win merely because your opponent overlooks a blocking move. You must instead create a position where your opponent cannot prevent at least one of several possible winning moves.
