In Islamic societies, religion penetrates all aspects of social and professional life, including health issues. This book offers three contributions illustrating its impact on work. Firstly, it describes the influence of the well-known Islamic work ethic on workers' behavior in Muslim countries, and reviews the overall implications for organizational performance. Secondly, it highlights the Islamic view on the concept of business, in connection with the essential Islamic work values and components and the Ten Commandments. Thirdly, it contributes to the field of quality management models. It conducts a comprehensive literature review of Western quality approaches and identifies the shared values and principles in comparison with the Islamic work ethic. Nasser Al-Salmani (1976) did his Bachelor of Science of Nursing in the USA, and his Master in Managing Quality and Services Improvement in Health Care at Birmingham University, UK. He works for the Ministry of Health in Oman, as Director of Accreditation & Standards Development. This book is the publication of his thesis at Vrije Universiteit, Amsterdam, the Netherlands.
